Journey With JESUS!

Last week we learned that Jesus was inviting us to journey with him.
-      Yoked together on a mission (Matthew 11:28-30)
-  This Requires change
a.   Ventura said that God will always cause us to change, and move so that we don’t hold on to anything
b.   Sara added that to hold onto a thing instead Him is an act of idolatry
c.   Curtisene – “More-More” (God will always offer us more)

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (NIV)

“Works for the good” or “Works together” (lit fits into the plan)
God used the stoning of Stephen to excite the early church and challenge Paul (the Saul)
Think of the background of Paul
a.   Educated in the law, finest schools –
b.   How helpful was it for him to be educated
c.   He was already passionate about God just mislead.
Genesis 50:20
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives

Love is the engine that powers the promise
What does it mean to love him? What does it look like?

Matthew 22
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

JESUS COULD NOT SEPARATE THESE COMMANDS!
He was asked for 1 commandment
he insisted on giving 2 because the 2 are inseparable.
1 John 4:20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.
I Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

We also used Jeremiah 29:4-13
- WE LOVE VERSE 11 but the preceding verses are important
